Frieza has always been a pet project of ours. Not only that, a Level 5 for him has always been a popular request. With the two Frieza personalities we did release, some folks have found him to be in a more playable state, just not quite there yet. We’re gonna try to get him there by the new year, starting with this drill.
One of Frieza’s most unique cards, and one we usually have in mind when designing him, is Frieza’s Irritation Grows. Even when the game was alive, some attempt was made to breath some more life into this card with Frieza’s Anger Blast. Since many of the newer Frieza cards released by Score worked with Frieza-named cards, we wanted to try and continue that trend with the only non-personality support card we gave to Frieza.
On top of that, since many of the Score Frieza personalities also worked with Dragon Balls, as well as our own Virtual Lv. 4, so we wanted to add a Dragon Ball angle as well. While not as good as just running a Goku’s Capturing Drill, stacking it with the first part of the power (not to mention being able to play it from hand) gives this drill more of an edge in an aggressive Frieza deck that may want to run Dragon Balls though not necessarily with the goal of a Dragon Ball victory in mind.
The drill also has the Majin Buu Freestyle Mastery like ability of staying in play (since we reasoned that Drills +Anger = Combo), making Frieza a very real threat for a non-traditional Most Powerful Personality Victory deck. Just watch out for those (now Freestyle) Black Scout Maneuvers!
Almost makes you want to pack some Majin Funny Face for good old Frieza.
That’s it for this week folks. Come back on Monday when we’ll give you options to move away from the Cyborg Frieza and bridge the gap between the Frieza-named themed early levels and the Dragon Ball combat happy Lvs.4+.
Later, BroZ!
Cool. I like where this is going.
Honestly, I don’t care about Frieza as a character of the series, like say some people are fanboys for Trunks, or Vegeta or whatever. BUT Frieza was really a turning point for DBZ when you had these all powerful villains I think. I mean Vegeta was the baddest guy on the block when he arrived, but I think when Frieza showed up and was dispatching people who were already stronger than Goku was at the beginning of the series (and he was the strongest known person to us at the time) then you really have to pay homage to him.
Solidifies Frieza’s anger theme in Freestyle. Love it! If only other Freestyle personalities got a boost 😉
I think this should have really received some sort of generic +2 life card damage pump so it would synergize with more Frieza personalities. With a damage pump, it would work with either the Frieza CCPP and Retro level 2 OR the Trunks Saga 1-3, along with the DB theme of the first Redemption HT and the Puppet Show subset Frieza.
I’ve wanted to make a Frieza freestyle for so damn long, I’m excited to see where this goes
Great card, I think this gives Frieza some serious juice.
This card is great!
Any chance you guys could post the templates you use?
The templates are posted on the dbzccgchampionship facebook group page under files. I think the name is ocg psd or something like that.
Is that a different page to the Retro DBZ CCG facebook page? I can’t find it 🙁
Yes, it is. Here is a link.

Thanks… the templates on there are different to the ones they use here though?
This is perfect with the 2012 levels 2 and 4 he recieved! I still cant believe there isnt a fantastic level one Frieza by Score, they only made what, four different level ones? Or more?… or some personality set that follows his transformations and gives him appropriate attacks/defenses for those forms. Was always a dream of mine. Ha.
