The first new Ginyu Force member is a classic who has been in the game since the Frieza Saga. His original Lv. 1 is actually a pretty decent ally, even by current standards. But we wanted to add a new Jeice to serve the new Captain Ginyu loyally, like he did in the show. Jeice was essentially Ginyu’s right hand, and helped him secure the Dragon Balls and hide them from Vegeta and the Earthlings. Here, he serves a similar purpose.
It’s your choice as to whether you run Jeice as a Main Personality, ally or in Captain Ginyu’s sensei deck. Honestly, he works in all three, even without Captain Ginyu being around. But as Ginyu’s ally or a loaner for his power, Jeice can really help delay an opponent’s Dragon Ball victory. On top of shuffling two balls with Ginyu, he could potentially capture up to two Dragon Balls with his attack as well. Combined with Captain Ginyu Lv. 3, this attack could really shut down a Dragon Ball heavy opponent. But don’t dismiss him as an ally either, capturing a Dragon Ball through non-damage effects is underutilized in the current metagame and could be HUGE!

Later, BroZ!
He has TWO scouters. WTF?!?!?
+1
I just watched this story arc yesterday and I believe it’s from a scene where he is holding Captain Ginyu’s for him just after he switches bodies with Goku.
This helps Ginyu be prepared for anything, good card. By itself, I don’t know if it’s the greatest card. But ginyu support does the trick.
Nice card, I like that it’s like an updated version of the original level 1.
And as far as Burter can’t wait to see him.
I have to say that I’m happy with the new look Ginyu Force. The New Jeice brings a nice middle finger to dragon ball decks in general. Still, I think it’s going to be Guldo power that’s going to shine with Capt. Ginyu. “Focused Physical attack and if successful I draw bottom two discards” “Twice” 🙂 With what we have seen from Retro in other virtual cards is that a we might except the rest of the force to have some sort of tech against non-combats and anger. Like with Baba’s allies, to have Ginyu be balanced against whatever you face with him.
Curse you autocorrect. Should be expect, not except.
Very nice work guys. He’d be a great mp to a db deck.
Yeah I felt the same way about him
I’m curious as to if these new Ginyu Force personalities will be used more as traditional allies or sensei deck reserves.
With Jeice! I tend to lean main deck, would like to have that power accessible as much as possible. Now Guldo, sensei deck that mofo for the win.
In my opinion, without any playtesting yet, I’m leaning towards Ginyu being better played with his allies traditionally main decked and then a few in the SD to bolster him. Then using the level 2 to “get back” in a sense any allies you could lose due to your opponent’s effects. Like I said though, haven’t been able to play test live yet but after a couple of self games and theory crafting that’s what I’m personally leaning towards.
This guy would live in my sensei deck. Since against DBall you basically only get one action per combat, I’d want this guy there for a clutch 2 ball shuffle at the right time. Hard to ensure this if you’d have to be at 1 or 0 above as well.
As far as allies vs sensei deck for Ginyu, I’m thinking he will be best as a beat down (Black, Red) with a focus on Sensei deck’d allies. His powers don’t support ally play and a 1-3 limits you to L1 only. Picking and choosing powers per turn is much more powerful than drawing into and playing random allies. You can do that with any deck.
That is, of course, assuming there’s no ally support up and coming 😉
really well designed, I like it alot. Just wish captain had a different power, i really dont like devoting my sensei deck to a bunch of personalities so i can have a power each combat.
My problem with Ginyu is that alot of villian level 1 power say things like “Any attacks Vegeta performs” (Vegeta, the Puppet) making them useless for Ginyu when they would otherwise be great.
i dont have much of a problem with that, i went through and had about 15 good choices to put in side deck. Thats the thing tho, you pretty much have to run elder kai if dont wanna run out of powers to use. Sure youd be fine against a 1-3 mp set but no one runs those much anymore. Ginyu would have been much better served being able to use that power until he lvl’d up or chose a different power.
