Its an exciting time to be a DBZ fan. If you haven’t heard yet, a new Dragon Ball Z movie is headed to a theater near you next year. Well if you live in Japan. Battle of Gods is the first Dragon Ball Z movie to be released in theaters in 17 years. It would be awesome if the movie was released in American theaters. But I dont see that happening. The best we can hope for is speedy American DVD or streaming release. A few plot details have been released. The movie takes place 10 years after Majin Buu but before GT. The trailer is out now and DBZ has never looked better.
No Tarble 🙁
It’s not 10 years after Buu. It’s set sometime between the end of the Buu Saga and the “last episode”, which is only 7 years after Buu. Plus, the characters don’t seem to have aged much, so I’m sure it’s within 2 years of Buu based solely on that (mostly on how Goten and Trunks look).
Also, Gohan can randomly go Super Saiyan despite his Mystic form supposedly making it so he can’t.
Can’t wait to watch. The Egyptian/pharaoh/cat/dog villain guy looks kinda neat.
Egyptian Rex lookalike.
I predict he will be defeated with Spirit Bomb
Hey now! Spoiler Tags! 😛
To be fair, the only movies with Spirit Bombs were World’s Strongest (2), Tree of Might (3), Lord Slug (4), and Super Android 13 (7). With the exception of Super Android 13, the Spirit Bomb disappeared once Super Saiyans came around, and even in Super Android 13, it was used more as a transformation than an actual attack.
Odds are, they’ll use this movie as an excuse to have one of the following in canon:
1) Living Gogeta
2) Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta
3) Super Saiyan 3 Gogeta
These are all things that exist in Dragon Ball Heroes (along with Super Saiyan 3 Future Trunks and Broly), and since they already made Bardock a Super Saiyan to tie into Heroes, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
